Introduced in September 2016 by the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès in partnership with Les Compagnons du Devoirs (cabinetmakers and leather craftsmen), the Académie de Paris and the Ecole Camondo, the Manufacto program aims to raise awareness among primary, middle school and high school students of the craft trades, to encourage careers in craftsmanship. The challenge is to help students discover the craftsman’s trade, the raw materials and the transformation of those materials into objects.
A lamp, a stool, a purse… between learning about the world of shapes and putting into practice a combination of technical practice, transmission and the pleasure of making, the pupils create objects of which they are proud, supervised by students from the Camondo school.
This year, as part of the partnership, 10 students from Camondo Paris and Toulon will be helping to make objects in the schools.
