Lightness by Philippe Costard

Designing lighter objects is Man’s continuous aim. The environmental dimension of the designer’s concern is reinforced by the need to reduce man’s impact on the planet from design and manufacturing, to use, and finally to the disposal of obsolescent objects. The conference will expose the issue of the increase in scarcity of resources and energy. The conference will also tackle the idea of lightness as a source of inspiration to be drawn from nature. Bionics is a booming science, which design will have to learn to benefit from.
