Become an interior architect-object designer: registration for the entrance examination

For admission to the 5-year Program which is divided into two parts (Part I in 3 years and Part II in 2 years), students are required to have passed the baccalauréat (all streams) or to have obtained an equivalent high school leaving qualification. It is possible to join the Ecole Camondo 5-year program in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year. The entrance examination is the same for entry into the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years. For entry into the 4th year, admission is by application and interview.

Registration for the entrance examination is subject to a 120€ fee.

Registration for the entrance examination will open on January 9, 2018.

Registration can only be completed online on the school’s website.

The written tests for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year entrance exams will take place on May 12 and 13, 2018.

The oral tests will take place during the week of May 14, 2018.

1st year admissions

Can apply:  students possessing a baccalaureate or equivalent title from abroad, or students enrolled in 12th grade (or equivalent). In this last case, they will be admitted under condition of obtaining their baccalaureate or an equivalent title. 

The candidates will be evaluated according to:

  • the grade they get during the written exam (5 points)
  • the grade they get after examination of their application portfolio containing personal works (7 points). The candidates’ work is examined according to their pertinence, the plastic quality both in terms of drawing, volume, and ability to write, present an argument, prove a level of general knowledge, and an ability to summarize. The choice of elements making up the application portfolio of personal works is left up to the candidate, who is free to choose works that showcase his creativity, level of thought and their know how.
  • The grade they get during the interview (8 points). This meeting allows the evaluation of: the candidate’s maturity, and for students enrolled in school in another language, to check their good command of French.
  • Copy of a birth certificate or copy of the national identity card or passport
  • Copy of the baccalaureate or equivalent abroad qualification (translated by an official service)
  • Photocopy of the current student card if you are a student
  • A resume

Oral exams the week of the 14th of May 2018

2nd year admissions

Can apply to the second school year, students previously having validated at least 60 ECTS after their baccalaureat or an equivalent foreign title in a curriculum of:

  • design
  • interior architecture
  • architecture
  • applied arts

Can also be accepted to pass the competitive exam, the candidates currently attending a first year program in one of the curriculums cited above. In this case, the candidate is accepted under condition that s.he will get 60 ECTS.

Candidates are evaluated according to:

  • the grade gotten at the written exam (5 points)
  • the grade gotten at the examination of portfolio of personal work (7 points). The students work is studied on the basis of its pertinence, its plastic qualities both in terms of volume drawing and abilities to write, present arguments, showcase a certain level of general knowledge, and an ability to summarize. Candidates are free to choose what works to include in their personal portfolio to best showcase their creativity, level of thought and skills. 
  • The grade attributed for the interview (8 points). This interview allows the candidate’s maturity to be evaluated, and, for students studying abroad in another language, to check their good command of French.

The exam unfolds in two parts:

  • a day of written exams (writing, drawing and volume)
  • participation in an interview of about twenty minutes with a committee of two teachers who judge the quality of the exams, examine the portfolio of personal work brought by the candidate, and listen to his motivations and professional project. The candidates must compulsorily participate in both the written exam and interview. During the written exam, no documents or connected devices are allowed except for a language dictionary for the foreign candidates. 
  • Copy of a birth certificate or copy of the national identity card or passport
  • Copy of transcripts with credits or equivalent abroad qualification (translated by an official service)
  • Photocopy of a recent identity card
  • Photocopy of the current student card if you are a student
  • A resume

4th year admissions

Can apply to the fourth school year, students previously having validated at least 180 ECTS after their baccalaureat or an equivalent foreign title in a curriculum of:

  • design
  • interior architecture
  • architecture
  • applied arts

Can also be accepted to pass the competitive exam, the candidates currently attending a second year program in one of the curriculums cited above. In this case, the candidate is accepted under condition that s.he will get 180 ECTS.

The admission procedure for the fourth year includes the evaluation of an application form. This form will be made up of a summary document explaining the student’s experience, all of the grades from the student’s first cycle, a folder of personal work in .pdf format gathering his/her most recent work.

The candidate will also have to pass an oral exam of about twenty minutes with a committee of two teachers who evaluate the quality of the student’s portfolio of personal work and listen to his motivations and professional project. This interview can be had over skype for the candidates living outside of France. This procedure will unfold in two sessions; in March and in May 2018.

Before the beginning of classes, the candidates will have to prove:

  • for the French candidates a level in English equal to at least B1
  • for the foreign candidates a level in French equal to at least B2.
